OUR GUARANTEE – YOUR SAFETY & PEACE OF MIND
New Houses and Buildings in Cyclone Zones NEED StormShield window and door glass. StormShield is the Ultimate High Wind Zone / Storm and Cyclone / Hurricane Resistant Window and Door Glass.
Glasshape Limited’s all new ultra robust cyclone / hurricane resistant storm glass is also a fully certified Grade A Laminated Safety Glass.
StormShield is engineered (using a specially formulated polyacrylic laminate) to resist excessive wind speeds and penetration from flying debris present during cyclones or hurricanes. The ultra-high grade laminate used in its manufacture is designed to allow the glass to expand and contract up to five times its normal rate before breaking. Even if it is damaged by flying storm debris it remains weather-tight without tearing or breach of the window envelope, thus maintaining a water-tight environment during a storm.
Major insurance companies and Councils have approved StormShield for use in Fiji and other Pacific regions.
Certified to AS1170.2:2002 Impact Resistance, AS4040.2:1992, AS4040.3:1992 and AS/NZS2208.

NEWS FLASH! StormShield Generation II has now passed impact testing at the very highest levels of the AS/NZS 1170.2: 2011 for cyclone region D, with regional windspeed up to 108.9mtr/sec. Impact test velocity of 44 mtrs/sec (approx 158km/h) with a 4kg piece of timber 50mm x 100mm impacting the 14mm thick laminated glass horizontally end on. Impact test result - PASS, with NO perforation of the StormShield® laminate. More details coming soon!
The 2011 revision of AS/NZS1170.2 has called up greatly increased speeds for impact testing which has presented a challenge in terms of equipment which can test to the new levels. Glasshape investigated the possibility of using a heavier missile than prescribed in the standard, at lower speeds to achieve equivalent kinetic energy on impact. Others in the industry are using this method but we are advised that this testing is not regarded as being equivalent to the standard, and the prescribed missiles must be deployed at the correct speeds for compliance, because this simulates actual prevailing conditions during a cyclonic storm. Glasshape have therefore developed a powerful new test cannon capable of firing missiles in excess of 110 metres per second (400km/hr) to achieve full compliance with the standard.
